Wat Bowonniwet Vihara

Wat Bowonniwet Vihara is a first-class royal temple in Bangkok’s historic Phra Nakhon district, founded in 1824. It became the center of the Dhammayuttika Nikaya order and is closely tied to Thai royalty, including Rama IV and Rama IX. The temple’s golden chedi houses sacred relics, and its ordination hall features the revered Phra Phuttha Chinnasi Buddha image. Prince Mongkut served as abbot here for 27 years before becoming King Rama IV. With rich architecture and spiritual significance, it remains a key site for Buddhist training and cultural exploration.
